Travel: Italy

"Rome, by all means, Rome"
These words, uttered by Princess Anne (Audrey Hepburn) in Roman Holiday (1953) quite simply conveys the charm of the eternal city. In recent times, Italy has been heralded as a place of and financially inept and power hungry perverted leaders (in church and state), when it should in fact be remembered for all it's former glory, above the recent controversies. Things such as: Sophia Loren, Sophia Loren's cheekbones, Monica Belluci's breasts, Fellini, Ferrari, strong coffee, stronger religious beliefs, a gourmand's paradise, bad chinese food(go figure) and even worse drivng.

I spent the remaining days of 2010 in Italy, a trip that would shake me to my core and make me question why I've never thought of going ever before. Though it only lasted 10 days or so, I discovered that it was such a fundamentally moving place for me in terms of visual and physical aestheitc (and I'm not just talkng about the locals, who in their own right deserve and honourable mention to put it lightly), but I mean the architecture and the energy of the cities, the people and the richness of its culture. Honestly, those words carry no weight on its own unless experienced first hand. My trip coniststed of Milan - Pisa - Assisi - Florence - Rome. There is no doubt in my mind that my next trip to Europe will encompass a far more extensive voyage through the eternal city, Venice, Naples, Pompeii and Capri. And from my point of view, it was by far the most beautiful country I've been to in Europe. These are a couple of the photos I took on my trip, looking back on them, my feet are itching now more than ever to return and let Italy to wash over me again with inspiration.
