Taking inspiration from movies like Wong Kar Wai's "In the Mood for Love" (2004) and Bertollucci's "The Last Emperor" (1987), my palette for the Imperial just got richer. Designers are now looking toward the east for inspiration, in the form of with chongsams, orchid patterns, stringent kimonos and languid shapes sporting colours like gold, emerald green, red and black, oozing opulence and exqisite sensuality. With Louis Vuitton, Haider Ackermann and Ralph Lauren amongst some of the top collections sporting the aisa major aesthetic two seasons ago, I predict the Orient taking precenence in future collections.
