Honest. Intimate. Innocent.
Endearing. Modest. Melancholic. Beautiful. Ok, I'm currently absolutely in
love with this woman. How she looks at the world, in her almost mellow
dramatic way that makes her so irresistibly lovable, her soft demeanor, her
style, her elegance and her grace, the fact that she has managed to dominate a
work that is so clearly her own in a male dominated industry, putting a feminine
but sizable imprint on something that males have cornered and coveted for many
years now. I just really love her use of imagery and her treatment of
music. Plus she always likes to write stories from a subjective POV about
loneliness, transience and connections between people. And her music as well, I
like the treatment of cinematography mixed with the soundtrack, it works well.
And her films are always so open-ended and true to life and poignant. She
always liked design and photography and film and fashion… but she just stumbled
into film one day cause her dad thought she would like to do a shirt film with
him. I just think her style in terms of art is a lot like mine... she is
the embodiment of the international woman. Italian, American, French Asian, her
flair is so vast and her influence intoxicating, she creates beautiful worlds
within highly human and relatable human situations. Her films are always raw
and intimate, but sparing us the self-gratifying grit and gore, her feminine touch
in that sense is evermore prevalent. Like me, Sofia has many interests
spanning from photography, design, film, fashion and music, but it was
ultimately her family heritage in film that took over, becoming the medium which
best showcased her ability and aesthetic. Good choice.
Her impeccable style.
Her technical skill.
Her awesome friends. According to Sofia, Bill was her muse and she would have never made Lost in Translation without him. What a tragedy that would've been.
