Travel: Top 5 Things You Instantly Notice When You Touchdown In Your Hometown

1. How nothing's changed at all - the same people still sell food at the same places, the tastes are still the same, the same guy you've known since you started registering memories works at the same grocers - only now, his hair is a little grayer and his back is a little more hunched.

2. How everything has changed - Your old school friends are gone, the infrastructure has changed, and for fucks sake! If you knew that the char kueh lady in Kenyalang Park weren't gonna be selling the next time you came back, you would've bought her food in bulk and frozen it for you own personal stock for years of enjoyment to come!

3. How much you've changed - the way your extended family talk to you, address you, act towards you - it all changes, they dont even call you by the same childhood nickname anymore! The expereinces you miss out on and the experiences that you have on your own journey no longer match, theres a point of difference and divergence.

4. Our routine back home never changes, and most probably never will - we are all creatures of habit at the end of the day, why change it?

5. Mums cooking and long walks with dad will never ever get old. I love being home - if only for a while.
