Michael Wolf is a German photographer living in Hong Kong whose work focuses on the place of human way of life in large cities. With this series called “Window Watching”, the latter captured scenes life of his neighbors he had observed from his appartment. An astounding series to discover more.
Starting off as a photojournalist for German magazine Stern and using his experiences in Asia to explore his interest in life in the contemporary city. Through his aggregated perspectives and visual approaches, Wolf manages to establish himself as a photographer of the urban structure to document the ways in which people adapt in the ever changing urban environment, and thus providing us with a fascinating and intricate portrait of the city. For me, Wolf's work is reminiscent to the work of Urbanist William Whyte.
The rest of his portfolio is nte worthy and definitely wortha look at, not just in terms of voyeurism, but pervades the realm of art, urbanism and social documentary. Totally up my alley.
