William Gottlieb's Iconic Photos of Jazz Greats
In the 1930s, a young reporter by the name of William Gottlieb set out to cover the boom of the jazz scene for the Washington Post, only to find the paper didn’t care to dispatch an official staff photographer. Gottlieb, a self-taught photographer armed with his Speed Graphic and an ample supply of flashbulbs, took it upon himself to photograph the subjects of his interviews. Between 1938 and 1948, he documented the jazz scene in New York City and Washington, D.C., and created what eventually became some of history’s most iconic portraits of jazz greats. The Golden Age of Jazz gathers 219 of those, including Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan (who would have been 88 today), Billie Holiday, and Thelonious Monk, along with original text from the photographer contextualizing the images and their subjects.

Django Django - WOR
Mercury prize nominees Django Django have released the video to their track WOR inconjunction to music channel Noisey, which brought them to Allahabad, India where they documented and created a short film out of the infamous Indian Well Death riders. Speaking about the video, Noisey said: "We happily obliged, getting our shoes stolen in the process, but it was worth it to meet a bunch of guys with the most rock solid testicles we've ever come across." Check it out above.

Townes van Zandt - If I Needed You
Its been said that this song was in Townes' dream. When he woke up, he wrote it down, lyrics and chords all in one 5 minute sitting, before he forgot it. Without having to change one thing, this was the end result:
Glen Hansard - Say it to Me Now
I went to a Glen Hansard concert just a week ago a the Auckland Arts Festival and I have to say it's gotta be one of the better concerts I've been to - intimate, interactive and at the Town Hall too, a place whose acoustics are beautiful. Pretty raw and powerful voice. I'm glad his music got out there - it's so worthy.

Lyrically Superior... Incubus' Echo
This party is old and uninviting
Participants all in black and white
You enter in fullblown technicolor
Nothing is the same after tonight
If the world would fall apart
In a fiction worthy wind
I wouldn't change a thing
Now that you're here
Yeah, love is a verb here in my room
Here in my room, here in my room
You enter and close the door behind you
Now show me the world as seen from the stars
If only the lights would dim a little
I'm weary of eyes upon my scars
Pink tractor beam into your incision
Head spinning as free as dervishs' whirl
I came here expecting next to nothing
So thank you for being that kind of girl
That kind of girl

The Love of My Life... Justin Timberlake's Mirrors
I was really nervous when Justin dropped The 20/20 Experience. And his first single, Suit and Tie really underwhelmed me to the point where I thought he had well and truly lost his magic touch. RnB turned into some watered down soul/funk mash-up, Timbaland turned into Jay-Z and the buzz cut turned into a hipster mop top with no trace of his beloved broccoli top. But then I heard Mirrors and realized that our beloved old school JT is still there. Loving the lyrics and the melody so much, this is old school nostalgia at its finest. No one in the world can repalce Justin for me, he is the soundtrack to my life.

The Chemical Brothers - Electrobank
Mesmerizing witout compromising simplicity, a great music video. Starring a young Sofia Coppola, post Godfather III and pre Lost in Translation, when she was still bethowthed to Spike Jonze, the director of the video.

Tinnie Tempah ft. Calvin Harris - Drinking from the Bottle
Mute and watch the vid. One of the best I've seen in ages, a pastiche of The Podigy's 'Smack My Bitch Up" and the Arctic Monkey's "Fluorescent Adolescent".
